If you want to visit a place that will take your breath away and that you will immediately fall in love with, Plitvice Lakes is the right place for that. It is a place of indescribable natural beauty, decorated with lakes and waterfalls.
The Plitvice Lakes are the largest, oldest and most visited Croatian national park. It is a mountain area covered with forest, where there are 16 lakes of different sizes decorated with crystal blue-green water. The exceptional natural beauty of lakes and waterfalls, the wealth of flora and fauna, clean mountain air, bridges and forest paths make up an incredible whole that was declared a world natural heritage by UNESCO in 1797.
The lakes are divided into Upper (12 lakes) and Lower (4 lakes). The biggest lake is Kozjak, while Prošćansko lake, right after it, took second place.
The most beautiful waterfall on the Plitvice Lakes is located between Milanovac and Gavanovac, called the "Milka Trnina waterfall". It was named after a Croatian opera artist.
The special geographical position and specific climatic features have contributed to the emergence of many natural phenomena and the rich biological diversity in the Park area.
